"White Medicine Woman"

The Westward Trek by Wagon Train

In 1900, McKinley was killed

It was a time of changing political history

And, the landscape was changing too

Less dangerous and more inviting was the prairie

The newly elected President in ‘04

       Was Teddy Roosevelt

He was a man with a heart of gold

       So the people felt

He spent time in the Dakotas

       And liked it fairly well

So he moved to open it up

Although for some it was a living hell

You see you had to be tough

To homestead this land and settle

A good life was possible

But you had to have the mettle
