When you didn’t visit as you said you would
I held our crying son as best I could
Then you used the children to "even the score!"
And you hurt them even more

      You made my children cry

Their summers were spent waiting and wanting
For their Dad to put in an appearance
But you were to busy "Getting on with your life"
So you didn't give your kids a second glance

And, you made my children cry

They only wanted your love and kindness
......A visit from their Dad
Not an angry man with a grudge
No surprise that they ended up so sad

That's how you made my children cry

You had to be forced to contribute every dollar
"You won't bleed me dry," you'd holler
Oh, how your son cried even more
As you evened this stupid score
When you denied him that you'd raised to avoid child support
He is only an "adopted" son you told the court

Guess you thought this was a good reason to make my children cry

You said I was only a paycheck and a fool
For the many years that I supported you
And, you hated me....this I know
Because you've used our children to tell me so

But, I did not cry.....Until you made my children cry

Your daughter was inconsolable after your manipulation
You criticized her Mom so bad which made her so sad
That she cried for a hour before she fell asleep
With tear stains on her cheek
What For?
Oh Yeah.....you wanted to even the score!

So, you made my children cry

You see, your words did not hurt me
As they did the kids
Born of a union that was "not meant to be"
You tell the children this and so much more
Guess you feel as if
You have evened the score

Even as the years continued to pass, you made my children cry

We cannot make our past go away
Nor do we understand why people act in a certain way
You are a dead beat dad, a drunk, and a disgrace
It makes me sad to know the shame that you will face
Because one day you will ask yourself

"Why did I make my children cry?"
