It's the simple things in life,
Like the beauty in a butterfly as it takes flight
Or the teenage daughter that becomes a college bound sight.
It's one of life's greatest wonders,
A treasure to be sure to enjoy in my winter years.
I will smile then and remember when.
She entered life with the beauty of an angel,
Half bald, long and thin. As a newborn babe,
Her wakeup cry crept up the skin.
And even as she'd push side to side,
She was cradled in love, deep and true
For her mother knew, she needed it inside.
As it washes over me again, I remember when.
Raised to walk in the way of God, family, laughter,
And silly things, She has confidence, fun,
And womanly wiles on her wings.
An angel she is not.
But as the beauty in her wings, steadfast is she in values,
Convenient or not.
With pride, I remember when.
